Editing is an intriguing balance between analytical and creative thinking. I enjoy helping writers tell their story, and I have an instinct for organizing ideas and envisioning the final product while focusing on the details.
When I became a teacher, I was fortunate to combine my passion for reading, writing, and language with my love of children. This experience gave me in-depth knowledge of how people learn to read and write and the theories and practices of literacy. I conducted research in reading comprehension and immersed myself in the expansive, wonderful world of children’s literature.
My experience as an educator and my passion for shaping and refining text have led me to this point where I can partner with you to help you convey your message effectively.
I have a copyediting certificate (UC Berkeley Professional Sequence in Editing). I hold an MA in teaching, a BA in English with a minor in journalism, and a California Professional Clear Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development Multiple Subject teaching credential with supplementary authorization in English language arts.
“The work of a good editor, like the work of a good teacher, does not reveal itself directly; it is reflected in the accomplishments of others.”
